You are not alone, although you may feel very lonely at the moment. Many people have been in your position, they have felt hopeless and have wanted to go home to where they understand how everything works. The first 6 months in a new country is undoubtedly the toughest – it is the time of setting up house, worrying how the kids are doing, and feeling like a fish out of water. The good news is, this is only temporary. It does get better. You will start to find your way. You will make friends. You will bravely explore your new home and gradually feel more settled.
The knowledge that things are going to get better does not help in those early few months, but there are many things that you can do to ease the transition.
